"How to Watch Movies for Movie Lovers" is an innovative self-help workbook that teaches people how to reap therapeutic benefits from every movie they choose to watch. The innovation comes from the perspective of a behavioral health peer specialist instead of the views of a phyco-therapist or Ph.D., and is written as a temperate blend of scholarly scientific knowledge and the common sense of the average person. The workbook contains ten chapters, seven of which embodies the fifty-three movies featured. This workbook should be classified as non-fiction, even though the majority of the featured films are fiction. Each chapter containing movies is formatted in the following way: pictures of the DVD cover or cinema promotion poster and resource information for each film, rating and content information, questions designed to generate thought or discussion (that the reader answers on the space provided) about each film, answers to the questions from the author's angle (which also points out subsequent therapeutic aspects), then a wrap up of the movie's benefits and a short introduction to the next movie or chapter. The purpose for writing this workbook, is that you, my fellow movie -lovers, will learn not to take watching movies for granted. There are skills and perceptions to be gained by viewing all films, and now you too can possess the power, and the ingenuity, to retrieve and retain these concepts for yourselves on a conscious plane. My entire life I have been on a journey to discover truth. I have ventured after justice for myself and the people around me, of which I believed the truth would bring. About the Author: Teri L. Sturgis is an adaptable woman who exhibits strong work ethics, an ability and willingness to learn fast, and a self-driven capability to successfully accomplish whatever she sets out to do. Teri will take charge when the need arises and possesses leadership qualities, which she has demonstrated many times in employment and volunteer positions over the years. She served on the Behavioral Health Planning Council for the state of New Mexico, a Governor appointed placement, and served as President of the Belen Art League Gallery, an elected, yet volunteer position. She earned degrees in Art Studio and in Applied Sciences. When it comes to creativity, Teri must have an outlet, of which she displays in most everything she does. She is an avid writer and works in several different mediums to create her art pieces. Teri enjoys creating via any venue and opportunity that presents itself. She has been the featured artist at local art shows and won numerous ribbons and awards for her diverse work. Currently, Teri is self-employed as an editor and a free-lance ghost writer. As a behavioral health consumer herself, Teri offers a unique take on the idea of cinema-therapy. She has spent years working in the field, then honed her writing skills, which has resulted in the sharing of her expertise on the behavioral health concepts of cinema-therapy. This is the first book she has written, but she has indicated she has ideas for others that would make up a series of shorter workbooks that target specific groups within perspective audiences or contain specific genre grouped films, on the subject of movie - therapy.
