Do You Know What To Do When You Are Teaching In Front Of A Bunch Of Kids?

Travelling the world is a lot of fun. And if you find a place you would like stay for a while, then teaching kids is the way to go.
There is always someone, somewhere who needs a foreigner to teach English. And that is where you come in.
But first up you do need to know a little bit about teaching. And that is where this book comes in.
This book is an accumulation of my seven years of classroom teaching, face to face with kids from kindergarten to the end of primary school. This is what worked for me, and it has been distilled from lots of stuff that didn't work.
So you end up with the crème de la crème.
Teaching kids is the way to go if you are into teaching and traveling. They are a ton of fun and they keep you fit. All this running around singing and dancing keeps you in trim.
Anyway this little book will give you the basics.
After going through the book, getting a few flashcards and a couple of props, like toys or puppets together you should be able to go into a classroom and teach a class like a pro, at least that is what anyone watching would think.
There is nothing in the book about teaching theory the book is only about doing it.
That means standing in front of the class and holding a class of youngsters spellbound for about 30 seconds.
The book covers most aspects of teaching young learner's English and it can be used for other subjects.
When teaching kids there are a few things you need to know to do with classroom management.
And there are links to videos that explain a rather simple but very effective method to keep kids under control. But as always there can be a few problem children that don't follow the rules. And you are introduced to other ways to keep kids from disrupting the class.
In any country classroom management is a must and if you can go into a class and keep it under control then that is a very big plus.
You need to explore what you can do in a classroom that suits your personality style or your teaching style.
And the book introduces you to different teaching methods that you can try out. I prefer flashcards and drawing on the blackboard, because I can't sing and dance or read with an animated voice.
So with the book you can try out different methods to use in the classroom, and pick what you feel more comfortable with. You do need a few things like flashcards and a few toys to keep the kids happy. There are links to flashcard sites and how to use toys in the classroom.
I use the students in the class as often as possible to help me and they usually hold the flashcards. With flashcards there are games you can play with the cards but they must be well protected as the kids will destroy them. Also there are different ways you can introduce a flashcard to the class.
This book is about what worked for me. Now I am not saying it'll work for you, but try it out and see what happens.
There is also links to the internet. I claim the internet is the greatest teacher of all, but you have to search to find the juicy bits. Then you have to try them out and see if they work for you.
Now a bit about me.
I've been teaching for years now in a number of different countries. Started off teaching adults, now I just teach kids. A ton of fun and you can do a lot more in class.
I ended up with a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning with a major in ESL.
Never needed it to get a job, young learners teachers are in demand.
Now if you are thinking of going overseas, put this little book on your phone, you never know when you might need it. Teaching jobs can pop up in any country, sometimes they are advertised on the noticeboards in the backpackers, and or online. And you never know when you might need a bit of extra cash. Then again you might fall in love with teaching, and now you have a new career path that could last for years to come
