Dee Hill's life has taken twists and turns that range from the comical to the traumatic to the simply bizarre.
In this extraordinary memoir, Hill tells of a colorful Boston area upbringing that exposes him to congenial mobsters and vigilante teenagers, with a larger-than-life father who harbors violent tendencies. And when he eventually sets out on his own, he never settles for a normal, boring existence.
Dee Hill seems to be a magnet for unusual scenarios, big personalities, and general wackiness.
His eclectic upbringing leads him to seek adventure far from his hometown. Stints in Europe and across the United States result in brushes with Cold War intrigue and eccentric celebrities. He hobnobs with communists, hippies, prostitutes, and bureaucrats from London to Japan to Boulder, Colorado. Through it all, Hill realizes a simple truth: people are fascinating, silly, scary, and diverse, and sometimes life is all of the above.
How I Got Beat-Up By The FBI When I Was Four Years Old is a comical memoir from a storyteller who has diligently observed the best and worst of humanity from a young age. Hill's vivid memories and fluid prose will make you feel as if you're living the craziness right along with him.
