About the Book

Finally, a self-help book written specifically for Presidents. Every President deserves to know the truth. Certain behaviours are totally inappropriate for Presidents. Do people suggest that you are constantly crossing that line between appropriate Presidential behaviour and engaging in activities that should really remain the domain of precocious children, notable and infamous people in the private sector, reality television stars, over-the-hill performers and others not accountable to the electorate or making use of public funds to support their activities? Then this is the book for you! A democracy contrasts with other forms of government where power is either held by an individual, as in an absolute monarchy or dictatorship (I agree, they do have a certain je ne sais quoi about them), or where power is held by a small number of individuals, as in an oligarchy, both of which tend to be frowned upon by people who have enjoyed the democratic experience. You should also be aware that virtually all democracies have been established relying on the political doctrine known as "separation of powers", which essentially provides for a constitutional government with three separate branches of government, being the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches. Some sample advice: Did you know that outside of banana republics, dictatorships and absolute monarchies, nepotism is generally looked upon as both foolhardy and verboten? Having trouble with leaks? Try taking somebody out to lunch once in a while, why don't you. A "free press" provides a public check on government, sometimes referred to as The Fourth Estate, a term that has been around since the 18th century. Many countries today strongly encourage equal rights among the sexes, be they male, female or intersex, which is, I assume you know, a "real" thing. Also, presumably your nation, much like the rest of the world, is made up of a combination of people of all different sexual orientations. I have three words for you. They all vote. And, as the person in charge of upholding the law, you do not want to start exhibiting biases for or against any sex or any sexual orientation, which is, in many countries, contrary to law. While "ethics" can take a bit of the fun out of being President, keep in mind that your citizens do need to have confidence in the integrity of their President. Not kidding. Ever review the notes from a meeting and ask yourself, "Did I say that out loud?" Impulse control is generally looked upon as a good thing in a President. If you seriously believe that an entire group of people are "out to get you" in an Orwellian conspiracy of biblical proportions, chances are you are actually suffering from something called "paranoia". That would be a problem for any President, particularly so for the President of a nation with nuclear capability. Why do you think nobody is booking a vacation to North Korea? Get a grip on yourself and on reality. Paranoia is frequently associated with a number of personality disorders, none of which are pretty. SPECIAL FEATURES: 1. Includes the lyrics to "The Presidents' Song" 2. It's so short you can read it in under an hour!
