About the Book

Houses Coloring Book: Vol. 1: Early American Styles This coloring book was just featured in the Wall Street Journal's Real Estate section! Have fun coloring while learning about Victorian and Early American style houses. This relaxing and educational adult coloring book is perfect for real estate appraisers, realtors, real estate agents, architecture students, homebuyers and house lovers. It is stress relieving, attractive, and full of information about classic house styles and architectural elements. The Houses Coloring Book is based on the leading guide to American home styles by Henry S. Harrison, MAI, SRPA. Houses: The Illustrated Guide to Construction, Design and Systems, sold over 1 million copies and is used by educational institutions across the country to teach appraisers and other real estate professionals how to recognize, describe and classify different home styles accurately. The Houses, House, Houses Architectural Coloring Book Volume 1 features 28 of the original Early Colonial American, English Victorian and French Country homes from Harrison's original book, beautifully reproduced as coloring book pages, featuring architectural line drawings set within rich historic gardens and landscapes. Each illustration is paired with an explanatory page showcasing the house's history and highlighting its most important architectural features. The interior design elements, as well as the methods and materials of construction commonly found in that style, are also presented. The Victorians loved wrap-around porches, stained glass windows, gables, dormers, gingerbread fretwork, complex brick work, arched windows and other elaborate home adornments that make these houses particularly delightful to color. Do you know the difference between an English Tudor and an Elizabethan Half Timber, a Log Cabin and a Cotswold Cottage? Learn about all these styles and more while relaxing and having fun! Your finished drawings make beautiful and educational decorations to frame and mount on office walls. Special features of this official Houses coloring book include: -Single-sided coloring pages on high quality bond, to avoid bleed-thru; -Crisp white pages, suitable for markers, water color markers, felt tips, gel pens, colored pencils, Pan-pastels, Sharpies and more; -Hi-resolution black line drawings specifically designed for coloring; -Informational pages on each style, highlighting key architectural features and historical perspective; -Structural design elements in call-outs for easy learning. This book provides hours of coloring pleasure while helping you become an expert in Victorian Era home styles as well as building your architectural vocabulary. Learn the meanings of belvedere, balustrade, cornice, gable, gambrel, noggin, pilasters, quoins and much more. Each historic home is surrounded by royalty-free images of people wearing historically accurate costumes, carriages, work animals, adorable pets and period-appropriate gardens, making this the perfect coloring book for Americana, Renaissance and Victorian-era enthusiasts. This book makes a fabulous house-warming or holiday gift for family, friends and colleagues. If you know someone who loves Colonial and Victorian houses, or lives in a current replica of one of these lovely styles, they will be sure to appreciate this unique adult coloring book!
