About the Author: Rudiger Gorner lebt seit 1981 als Literaturwissenschaftler, Kritiker und Schriftsteller in London. Er studierte in Tubingen und London Germanistik, Geschichte, Philosophie und Anglistik, lehrte an den Universitaten Surrey und Aston in Birmingham, bevor er 1999 Direktor des Institute of Germanic Studies der University of London wurde. Seit 2004 lehrt er am Queen Mary, University of London und leitet als Grundungsdirektor seit 2006 das Centre for Anglo-German Cultural Relations. Rudiger Gorner hatte Gastprofessuren in Tokyo, Heidelberg, Mainz, Hannover, Koln und Salzburg inne und ist Verfasser von uber funfzehn literaturwissenschaftlichen Monografien. Zu seinen musikorientierten Veroffentlichungen gehoren Mozarts Wagnis (1991), Literarische Betrachtungen zur Musik (2002) sowie Auswahleditionen von Komponistenbriefen (Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms und Richard Strauss)
