About the Book

Description of "Where Hope Glows Through the Darkness"

John Corbin is a renowned classical pianist who lives in Jackson, Wyoming. You would think that he would feel satisfied at having achieved such a status, and in living amidst beautiful surroundings. But John's world is dark, and he often finds himself sinking into deep depression.
In part, it is due to his being totally blind. Nevertheless, the accomplished musician is able to get around quite well with the aid of his loyal guide dog Anton. John was not always blind. Although John has lost his eyesight, he has a keen sense of his surroundings and is able to function well and cares for his daily activities in an active manner.
He often reflects on his marriage to his lovely Amara, on how happy they once were together, but how their relationship fell apart when he lost his eyesight. The day Amara packed her bags and said goodbye is one of the most devastating days in his life. Suddenly, and tragically, his beloved told him she no longer wished to be part of his life, and left him shattered and alone.
But as life has its disappointments, it also presents it hopes and joys. John discovers this sudden upsurge of events one winter's night, as he is playing a beautiful composition by Anton Rubenstein entitled Romance (c). An unexpected knock on the sliding door of his cabin. A woman stands before him injured and requesting his help. .
She and her boyfriend were in a snowmobile accident a distance from his cabin. The woman is able to seek help, while her boyfriend is pinned underneath the overturned machine. She introduces herself as Evelyn, and John returns the favor by giving her his name. From the first few moments he meets Evelyn, he feels an emotion he has not felt since he met Amara. A warm glow lights his darkened heart, and he begins to feel life flow within himself again. True, he cannot see Evelyn, but there is something special, something magic about her, that draws him intensely to her.
This poignant novel captivates you as you are led through the maze of events which transpire between John and Evelyn. Despite Evelyn's commitment to her boyfriend Jeff, she begins to find John more and more attractive. Slowly, Evelyn reveals her true feelings for him. As for John, he has already fallen in love with her, but wonders how he could possible begin a relationship with her. But as life would have it, a slow, abiding closeness develops between the two.
Jeff finds out and will have none of it, threatening Evelyn and John if they do not stop seeing each other. But nothing prevents the couple's love for one another to grow and blossom. Yet, other circumstances develop which threaten their relationship, including Evelyn's mother's need for care after having suffering a stroke. This causes the couple to be apart from one another, as John goes on a scheduled concert tour in Europe. There, he finds a doctor who helps him to recover his sight, and this becomes news to Amara, John's former wife. She now lives in Athens, Greece, and seeks to find John to renew their relationship.
Evelyn becomes aware of such an encounter, which raises questions in her mind regarding their relationship. But John is able to expose Amara's ploy and help to get his romance with Evelyn back on track.
Upon his return to the United States, John looks forward to seeing Evelyn, with whom he is now engaged, but soon suffers a severe setback. John unexpectedly loses his eyesight. Now completely shattered, he expects his relationship with Evelyn is over. He surmises she will never accept him as he is now. But love is more powerful than any challenge, so she comes to her beloved, rekindling the glow within his bedarkened heart. This is a must-read story for the romanticist and those seeking love.
