About the Book

Homeschool - How & Why to Do It - synopsis This book explains how and why homeschooling is a wonderful idea, including why families grow stronger when children are educated by the people who care most about them--the parents. It explains how the homeschool movement in the U.S. has grown since the 1970's. It identifies and explains most of the homeschool philosophies prominent in the movement today. It provides guidance about how to get started and lists many publishing companies providing resources to homeschoolers. Ideas for lesson plans are provided. A variety of approaches are discussed so parents can adopt a system that works for their particular teaching and learning styles. It provides strategies for how to deal with detractors and opponents. It gives ideas for field trips, as well as for recreational and athletic activities. It tells how to form groups composed of like-minded homeschoolers in a local area. This book provides good advice, identifies resources, and offers encouragement. It makes a convincing case for the wealth of benefits enjoyed by students and parents through homeschooling.
