This handy companion volume to 'Holy Days, the Liturgical Year in Practice', is designed to make it your own: Create a personal reference book to the Orthodox Calendar, or customize it for any given year. With short summaries from the book itself, leaving more room to write - and a special selection of inspirational quotes.
Suited for personal use, or as an educational project for study-group, catechism, or home-school.
Practical Details:
- Based on the traditional Menaion (suitable for Old or New Calendar) - with four spreads per month, noting feasts, fasts & daily commemorations (less than in the main book, leaving more room for local/personal additions).
- Special section for the Paschal cycle (Triodion & Pentecostarion), following the ancient Orthodox Paschalion - laid out as in the main book (one or two spreads per week) but with limited notes (leaving more space to write)
- Table with dates of Pascha/Easter for the entire 21st century - Julian/OC date & civil/NC date.
- Inspirational quotes on most spreads in the calender sections.
- Traditional Year, from Sep-Aug (similar to the academic year) - with additional pages for the preceding weeks (inc. full spreads from 16/29 Aug), and a few pages at the end (for next Sep-Dec).
Room for Local/Personal Additions:
Calendar pages in this Little Workbook are designed to offer more room for local/personal additions (local saints, new canonizations, church and/or personal events etc). Can be used independently, but assumes basic familiarity with the material set forth in the main book - which also offers additional tables, to make customizing even easier: HOLY DAYS, THE LITURGICAL YEAR IN PRACTICE (same page size, 279 pages, ISBN 978-1-917556-00-2). Suggested uses: Keep the main book for general reference (any year) and customize the Little Workbook for the particular year, and/or some particular theme/purpose.
