El presente libro se embarca en una historia crítica-conceptual de la noción de vida en Occidente. Los diferentes discursos en torno a la vida (como la biología, la ética, la política, la fenomenología y la teología) la caracterizan por su capacidad de ser causa y principio de sí misma. De allí que pueda hablarse de un paradigma bio-teo-político de la autarquía. Al explicitar esta caracterización de la vida y los modos en que se articula discursivamente, este análisis deconstructivo muestra que, si lo propio de la vida y del viviente es su estar referido a sí mismo, entonces todo contacto y comercio con lo otro es o accidental o anecdótico.
Una historia crítica de la idea de vida se suma así a los esfuerzos del siglo XX por pensar a la relación y a la alteridad no como meros apéndices, sino como definitorios de la condición de lo viviente. La originalidad del volumen estriba, sin embargo, en que la deconstrucción no se opera sobre el concepto de "ser" sino sobre el de "vida". De esta manera, este trabajo ofrece también un fundamento a las exploraciones de la biopolítica: si es cierto, como dice Agamben, que "una concepción de la vida conlleva una concepción de la política", entonces sólo examinando el concepto de vida en Occidente es que se puede comprenderse su política, y, a su vez, sólo redefiniendo la noción de vida es que puede habilitarse una nueva comprensión de lo político.

Investigador Post-Doctoral de la Fundación Alexander von Humboldt en el Instituto de Hermenéutica de la Universidad de Bonn (2018-2020) y en el Instituto de Ciencias Jurídicas y Filosóficas de la Universidad Paris I-La Sorbonne (2019). Becario Post-doctoral en Ciencia y Religión de la Universidad de Oxford y de la Fundación John Templeton en la Universidad de Bonn y en la Universidad de Oxford (2016). Publicó Ignorare Aude! La existencia ensayada (2012); (Im)posibilidad y (sin)razón: La filosofía, o habitar la paradoja (2014); La comunidad demorada: Ontología, Teología y Política de la vida en común (2017).
