About the Book

Velic Romero is an anomaly in itself, bound for an unknown future, and struggling to be as human as possible. As he enters another Illuminati facility, with his friend Finn Kioskey, he is still overwhelmed by the loss of his first love. The new facility is nothing more than one lab after another and is inhabited mainly by scientists. His heartache is amplified when an Artificial Intelligence named Winx Merietta is there because she was built by his first love's own hands and the two years away did nothing to ease his guilt or his heart.
He is charged to shadow and protect a rather destructive scientist Mute, whose barefoot way of science is close to being categorized as suicidal. Though he finds the blonde scientist quite attractive, he refuses to be vulnerable to love again. While keeping Mute from outrageous experiments, Velic is forced to do unthinkable acts by one who owns him; Councilman Armstrey, the Head of the Illuminati. Between Armstrey, Armstrey's son, and Armstrey's daughter, those closest to Velic are threatened. Velic has no choice and no true freedom. As he tries to do what's right, he's burying himself deeper into the clutches of the Illuminati.
Faced with difficult choices and being trapped with no way out, Velic finally admits his feelings for Mute. A torturous encounter with Mute's mom pushes him to become an alter of himself, and with no control over who he is or his actions, Velic murders those he cares for. However, thanks to the Illuminati, his friends were cloned for his benefit. Though it doesn't erase his actions, a major rift puts Velic on the outside, and he feels alone but with time, he regains what he lost and moves forward with the life he has.
The new start comes with its challenges but Velic plans to do everything necessary to do what is ordered of him. This brings new light into his relationship with Mute and lets Mute know that he loves him for the first time. The love between them prompts Velic to ask Mute to marry him and a "yes" from Mute has him beyond happy. However, their relationship would be short-lived beyond that point.
"To be or not to be" by William Shakespeare. Mute's destructive nature and manipulation from Armstrey have a suicidal impact. Mute locks himself in direct danger of being blown up and Velic is forced to accept it. He has to walk away from the man he loves but oddly enough, Velic learns a valuable lesson, and not only does Velic get Mute's journals, but he is also given one last memento in the form of a hand-written letter from Mute. This as well helps Velic look towards a brighter and unknown future.
