Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Literaturwissenschaft - Mittelalterliche Literatur, Note: 1,3, Universität Regensburg (Germanistik), Veranstaltung: "Des Helden bester Freund". Gott als (Spiel)Figur in mittelhochdeutschen Erzähltexten, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Hiob-Thematik wurde in der Literatur im Laufe der Zeit immer wieder aufgegriffen und neu interpretiert. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe zum Beispiel verwendete den Hiob-Stoff in seinem Faust. Im "Prolog im Himmel" wetten, ähnlich wie auch in der "Himmelsszene" im Hiob, Gott und Mephisto um die Seele eines einzelnen Menschen. In beiden Werken triumphiert zuerst der Teufel über Gott; im Hiob durch das Unglück, im Faust durch das Glück. Doch sowohl im Buch Hiob als auch im "Armen Heinrich" siegt letztendlich Gott. Auch Josef Roth behandelt die Thematik in seinem 1930 erschienenen Werk: "Hiob. Roman eines einfachen Menschen". Dort wird dargestellt, wie sich ein Mensch, weil seine Kinder erkranken, von Gott abwendet und durch die wundersame Heilung der Kinder wieder zu seinem Glauben an Gott zurückfindet. Bertolt Brecht beschäftigte sich ebenfalls mit der Hiob-Thematik, allerdings wird sein Werk "Der Blinde" oft als 'Anti-Hiob' interpretiert. Auch schon im Mittelalter beschäftigten sich Autoren häufig mit dieser umstrittenen Thematik. So auch Hartmann von Aue. Er vergleicht in seinem Werk "Der Arme Heinrich" seinen Protagonisten Heinrich an den Wendepunkten des Werks mit Hiob. Augenscheinlich ist, dass "beide Werke [...] das Schicksal des Helden auf drei Stufen [zeigen]: reich [und glücklich] am Anfang [...] - [krank, vom Schicksal gebeutelt, ] verlassen, unverstanden, angeklagt - gerettet und gesegnet nach der Demütigung unter Gottes Willen." (Glutsch 1972). In der folgenden Arbeit wird die Figur des Armen Heinrichs mit der biblischen Figur Hiob verglichen.
