About the Author: Gloryanne Bryant, BS, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCDS, is regional managing HIM director, NCAL Revenue Cycle at Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. & Hospitals in Oakland, CA, where she is responsible for coding, education, CDI, and HIM operations for 21 acute care hospitals. She is a member of the editorial advisory board for Briefings on Coding Compliance Strategies, and has more than 30 years of experience in the HIM profession providing education to coders, physicians, and other hospital staff on IPPS, DRGs, ICD-9-CM, and CPT coding.
Jean S. Clark, RHIA, CSHA, is the service line director for health information services and accreditation coordinator at Roper Saint Francis Healthcare in Charleston, SC. She is past president of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). She is the contributing editor to Medical Records Briefing, and author of seven editions of "Information Management, " five editions of "Ongoing Records Review, " the "HIM Director's Guide to Recovery Audit Contractors, " and the first edition of "The HIM Director' Handbook, " all from HCPro, Inc.
Caroline Piselli, RN, MBA, FACHE, manages ICD-10 and Pay for Performance programs at 3M Health Information Systems in Wallingford, CT. She oversees business strategy and operations for new classification methodologies and solutions supporting ICD-10 and pay for performance/ new regulations, in collaboration with clinical research, development, consulting and marketing. She has 30 years of experience in healthcare strategic planning, operational redesign, business development, and as a clinician.
