Miguel Falquez-Certain es un poeta, dramaturgo, cuentista, traductor y crítico colombiano nacido en Barranquilla en 1948. Ha desarrollado su carrera literaria fundamentalmente en Nueva York. Licenciado en literaturas hispánica y francesa (Hunter College, 1980). Cursó estudios de maestría y doctorado en literatura comparada en New York University (1981-1985). Tradujo al español los guiones de Peter Buchman para las películas The Argentine y Guerrilla (2008), dirigidas por Steven Soderbergh. Su narrativa, al decir del poeta John Jairo Junieles "Se acerca más a la tradición anglosajona y europea que a la influencia latinoamericana", sin embargo, muchos de sus temas, incluido el teatro, exploran los ambientes y los personajes propios de la costa caribeña colombiana, así como la homosexualidad, la violencia y el mundo del inmigrante latino en Nueva York. Su poesía abarca, por otra parte, tanto la angustia metafísica del hombre moderno, la muerte, el tiempo, la guerra, como la celebración de la amistad y el placer de vivir, mediante un lenguaje lírico de gran factura y significación. Algunos de sus relatos y poemas han sido traducidos al italiano, francés e inglés.
