Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich Elektrotechnik, Note: 1,0, Helmut-Schmidt-Universität - Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg (Experimentalphysik und Materialwissenschaften), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurde ein Rippenwellenleiterlaser in Ytterbium und Titan dotiertem Lithiumniobat realisiert. Ytterbium ist dabei als Laserion von besonderem Interesse, da es ein sehr breites Emissionsspektrum aufweist, was die Erzeugung kurzer Pulse ermöglicht. Bereits 1995 konnten durch Jones et al. Yb: LiNbO3 Wellenleiterlaser mit einem differenziellen Wirkungsgrad von 16 % erreicht werden. Aufgrund des photorefraktiven Effektes, der im Wirtsmaterial LiNbO3 auftritt, konnte der Laser jedoch nur instabil betrieben werden. Man spricht hier auch von photorefraktiver Schädigung, da die Effizienz von Wellenleiterverstärkern und Lasern stark beeinträchtigt werden kann. Fujimura et al. realisierten im Jahr 2007 einen stabilen Laserbetrieb mit einem differenziellen Wirkungsgrad von 7 %. Verwendet wurden hier protonenausgetauschte Yb: LiNbO3 Wellenleite. Der alltägliche Informationsfluss ist sowohl in der Wirtschaft als auch im Privatleben unverkennbar. Streamingdienste, Cloudspeicher und die Kommunikation über Netzwerkprotokolle spielen dabei eine tragende Rolle. Noch im Jahre 1996 wurde prognostiziert, dass die Datenübertragungsgeschwindigkeiten für das Jahr 2010 im Bereich von etwa 10 Mbit/s liegen sollten. Da die heutigen Übertragungsraten um ein Vielfaches darüber liegen, werden für die Datenübertragung vornehmlich Glasfaserkabel eingesetzt, die aufgrund ihrer hohen Bandbreite und Störungsunempfindlichkeit gegenüber herkömmlichen Kupfer-kabeln von großer Bedeutung für die Nachrichtentechnik sind. Glasfaserkabel sind ein wichtiger Bestandteil der integrierten Optik.
