Haben Schüler und Schülerinnen ohne Zuwanderungshintergrund von Grund auf bessere Chancen, als solche mit Zuwanderungshintergrund? In der heutigen technisierten Gesellschaft ist es von besonderer Bedeutung naturwissenschaftliche Kompetenzen aufzuweisen, um am gesellschaftlichen Leben aktiv teilzuhaben. Die aktive Teilhabe am gesellschaftlichen Leben findet sich in der PISA-Studie im Literacy Konzept wieder. Die Leistungstests in PISA basieren auf diesem Konzept, welches am besten mit "Grundbildung" übersetzt werden kann. Seit Mitte des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts ist die Gesellschaft in Deutschland immer wieder durch Einwanderung geprägt worden. Jüngstes Beispiel hierfür ist die Einwanderungswelle seit 2014. Dies wirkt sich auf die Zusammensetzung der Gesellschaft in Deutschland aus. Menschen, die aus anderen Ländern nach Deutschland kommen, wollen sich hier eine Zukunft aufbauen. Damit dies gelingt, müssen diese auch die entsprechenden Kompetenzen erwerben. Es stellt sich nun die Frage, wie Schüler und Schülerinnen (SuS), welche einen Zuwanderungshintergrund haben, erfolgreich an unserer Gesellschaft teilhaben können, um ein integrativer Bestandteil dieser zu werden. Dabei soll zuerst auf den Zusammenhang zwischen Herkunft und Kompetenzerwerb eingegangen werden, auch unter Berücksichtigung anderer Faktoren, bevor dann die Entwicklung in Deutschland seit der ersten PISA Studie aufgezeigt wird. Des Weiteren wird der Ländervergleich von 2012 herangezogen, um zu überprüfen, inwiefern die Ergebnisse aus dieser Erhebung die Ergebnisse von PISA 2015 bestätigen oder nicht. Dies soll dazu dienen, eine bessere empirische Basis zu haben, um dann abschließend die Fragestellung im Fazit zu bea
