Elisa é uma pintora de quadros tímida, que mora sozinha em um bairro da Zona Sul da cidade de São Paulo. Não gosta de falar sobre sua vida, até porque não se lembra de muita coisa, a não ser de uma amiga que considerava muito e faleceu de câncer. Elisa mantém os cabelos raspados em homenagem à esta amiga, mas na memória os fatos estão incompletos.Tem na atualidade uma única amiga, Rosa, com quem conversa em suas caminhadas pelo parque Severo Gomes, ao lado de sua casa.Em uma tarde Elisa foi a uma reunião com um organizador de exposição, para apresentar seus quadros. Ela já expôs muitas vezes e está acostumada com o trabalho, entretanto, desta vez foi convidada para expor em um Casarão no Jardim Europa. Ao levar seu portfolio para o Sr. Renato, organizador da exposição, ela recebe algumas críticas que não esperava. Sr. Renato diz que seus quadros parecem não terem sido pintados com paixão, mas que mesmo assim, farão parte do evento. Elisa fica irritada com a crítica mas isso a faz pensar sobre sua pintura. Ansiosa com a exposição, ela se arruma e vai para o Casarão, onde tudo corre perfeitamente bem e ela fica satisfeita com o resultado do seu trabalho, apesar de saber que as críticas feitas têm sentido. Ela já não pinta como antes e algo está perturbando sua mente, mas não consegue identificar o que é.No mesmo final de semana da exposição, quando vai caminhar no parque na manhã de domingo, Elisa é surpreendida por um homem que a persegue e avança sobre ela. O ataque é rápido e ela volta para casa correndo, desesperada, com as mãos sujas de terra e sangue, mas não se lembra de nada o que aconteceu.No dia seguinte, o noticiário relata que um homem foi encontrado morto no Parque Severo Gomes e será aberta uma investigação por suspeita de assassinato.Elisa não se lembra de nada, nem mesmo percebe alguma coisa quando vê o rosto do homem na televisão. Seu comportamento passa a ser estranho, com lances de alienação, inclusive tratando mal a amiga Rosa, que desconfia de algo errado. Luiz, um conhecido da academia, está interessado em Elisa, mas não tinha esperança de sair com ela, já que a moça o evitava sempre. Até que foi surpreendido com uma resposta positiva e os dois saem para jantar.Após o ataque no parque e o jantar com Luiz, ocorrem situações estranhas e fatos vêm à tona, envolvendo o Casarão onde Elisa fez a exposição. Ela não se lembra de muitas coisas do seu passado, pois parece ter apagado de propósito, como um mecanismo de defesa, no entanto, os acontecimentos recentes a obrigam a procurar sua mãe, que não vê há dezenove anos, para descobrir mais sobre sua história e talvez, a causa do seu comportamento. A mãe conta fatos da sua vida dos quais ela não lembrava e outros ainda que nem sabia, o que a fez lembrar de seu dom telepático, herdado da mãe.A partir de então, passado e presente se misturam, trazendo uma herança vinda de Portugal, que influenciou a vida de Elisa e seus antepassados.
