About the Book

Tirus I had seen so many sunsets over the years that this one should be no different, yet something about it had caught my eye. So here I was, standing on the fore deck of my ship, watching this amazing sunset, yet fretting at the same time. Was I really going to return home empty handed? This, my last voyage before I retired. I did not want to return home unsuccessful, but rather victorious! I wanted my name to go down in history for discovering a new land. I wanted to bring home riches and whatever else was discovered. There had to be land! I heard rumors and stories throughout my years at sea about land far, far to the North. So many stories, that I knew there had to be something. I was so convinced, that I had convinced the king to give me his blessing to find this mysterious land. Yet, here I was watching the sun set again, just as I had done for months now with no land in sight. Did the gods prosper me, giving me position and power just to see me fail? Gripping the rail, I squeezed until my hands went numb. I was angry. I did not want to accept the latest news my advisors had reported just minutes earlier. I wanted to push on, to keep going. But despite my protest they insisted we turn back and head home. They were worried about food shortages, or worse, completely running out of supplies. I looked at the other ships in my fleet. I wanted to ignore the warnings of my advisors. I wanted to push on, but if I made the wrong decision it did not only affect me, it affected us all. Thousands of men were counting on me to lead them safely. Anah We all knew what that sound was; a battering ram. Which only meant one thing, we had been defeated. The castle had fallen and the enemy was on the other side of the door. I knew it was coming. Over the last week we had received one bad message after another. I had no idea if my father, brothers, or Elisha were still alive, as the last message we received only mentioned the king; that he was still fighting. That was good news. But it was the only good news we had received in several days. Now, with the enemy in the process of breaking down the temple door, I highly doubted the king was still alive. Another loud boom echoed throughout the temple as the battering ram pounded against the door yet again. The guards were now standing in position, waiting, ready to fight; to defend us no matter the cost. I knew that these fifteen men, who had been locked in the temple with us for the past two weeks, stood no chance of defeating the thousands of men outside. Of course, they too had to know. Still they would try to protect us, and they would die trying. Anah's once secure and predictable world suddenly comes crashing down when a strange people invade her land. After witnessing the devastation that the strangers wrought, Anah finds herself chained; no longer free, but a slave. Now in the possession of the very man in charge of all the chaos; Tirus. A stranger who does not speak her language and does not know her God. A man who personally took the life of her father and the other leaders of the land. When Anah discovers the plans Tirus has for her, she is terrified. Is he really going to take her away from the only home she has ever known? Across the sea, to a land void of the knowledge of the one true God. Where the values Anah was raised with are seen as weakness. Where false gods are worshiped and human sacrifice is performed. Will Anah ever gain freedom? Will she ever be able to forgive Tirus? Will Anah be strong enough to keep her faith in a world that has no morals or values? You will not want to miss this historical fiction placed in the post flood, pre law time period, written from both Tirus and Anah's perspective.
