About the Book
Then I felt those arms, like steel, with muscles as big as my thighs, suddenly I felt a sharp pain in the side of my neck, as my eyes went wide with surprise.
The world spun, I felt dizzy and disorientated, just like the time I had gashed my leg as a boy and had almost died from the loss of blood.
My head swam, then I felt my life force leaving my body, time slowed down, it was not unpleasant, it felt like I was going somewhere.
Lucky for me that pain was dulled by the snake venom that damaged my nerves all those years ago, once again the pain was dulled by that act in my past; thank the gods for some things.
Another sharp pain in my neck brought me back to reality, it was a drawing feeling, a funny sensation, yes as I said again, like some of me was travelling to someplace else and leaving my body behind. So, I did the only thing I could do and held the creature that held me, like being held when I was a child by my father, it was then that I felt myself float to the ground and I never felt the ground but knew I had landed on it.
A Voice in the dark spoke to me, no, it spoke to the other, I could not
understand, it was a language I did not know.
He was urging the other to do something or it sounded like it.
I was lifted off the ground like a rag doll, which was quite a surprise at the time, as I am not a light man or small.
Being much like my father although five inches shorter, it felt odd to be held thus, like a child, weighing nothing in his arms.
Happy feelings of youth came into my mind, of being thrown in the air by my father.
Still in a haze I hugged this giant and held him tight, feeling my father as if in a dream, this tree of a man held me as well.
I played with his hair and stroked his face; I may have even kissed his cheek in the moment of love for my father's, return.
Whoever he was, he did not expect this.
As his reaction was to be struck still by my action, like a tree it stood in stature and stillness, then he strode off with me in his arms.
The other calling after him in some anger but to no effect. 'Stop Hammurabi, you have to start at the beginning, so, I begin my tale from the start'.
'How then does one tell of a lifetime of experiences, especially when that lifetime is across thousands of years?'
'Ok, you say, wait, you just said thousands of years?'
'Yes, let me explain, I'm a Vampire, (cue music and lights), sorry that's my theatrical license'.
I am a Vampire, made a Vampire in an act of violence by a blood god of an ancient order, through a virus as modern man would come to know of such things.
The virus has changed my cells, and made my molecules denser, it rebuilds my body when damaged, and has made me faster, stronger.
By a bite in my neck and the exchange of that strange and powerful blood, so many, many years ago now.
I have a theory, about evolution from before the last ice age.
Of a split around the time where man first began his path on this world, a virus passed on by blood maybe through leeches or mosquitoes, or a long dead ancestor, that we may never know about.
There may have been two evolutionary paths, both man and Vampire each on their own journey at one time.
My life however, stopped its earthly journey in the year 612 BCE. That's before recorded time (that's current recorded time as in BC or AD, Anno Domini), or as is said today Before Common Era.
How strange man now wants to cut Christ out of History like that, anyway, I digress.
Born in 636 BCE in an adobe home, or hut as you may see it now, I died to a new life, or is that death, aged only 24 years young at the time.
