Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Amerikanistik - Literatur, Note: 1,3, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Thema der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die Darstellung der kindlichen Perspektive in der Literatur. Das Werk, in der dieses Phänomen untersucht werden soll, ist der Roman To Kill a Mockingbird (1960) von Harper Lee (1926). Das Ziel der Untersuchung besteht darin, neben formalen Aspekten vor allem die Funktionen, die die Art und Weise des Schreibens aus kindlicher Sicht haben kann, herauszuarbeiten bzw. herauszufinden, welche Absichten ein Autor mit der Wahl dieser Perspektive verfolgt. Die vorliegende Untersuchung ist von daher nicht pädagogisch oder psychologisch, sondern in erster Linie erzähltheoretisch orientiert. Nicht die psychische Entwicklung der Kindergestalt, aus deren Sicht der Roman geschrieben ist, steht im Vordergrund, sondern die erzählerischen Mittel, die beim literarischen Erzählen aus der Sicht eines Kindes eine Rolle spielen, sowie die Wirkung, die durch diese Mittel erzielt wird. To Kill a Mockingbird hat sich für die Untersuchung der Kinderperspektive aus mehreren Gründen als besonders geeignet erwiesen. Entscheidend bei der Wahl des Romans war zunächst, dass dieser in den Südstaaten der USA angesiedelt ist, d.h. in einem Kulturkreis, in dem es eine verhältnismäßig große Anzahl von Erzählwerken gibt, die aus der Sicht eines kindlichen bzw. jugendlichen Protagonisten geschrieben sind. Hinzu kam jedoch noch ein weiterer Umstand, der die Analyse der Erzählperspektive in diesem Roman äußerst interessant gemacht hat. Die Tatsache, dass To Kill a Mockingbird zu den Werken gehört, die aus den Augen eines Kindes bzw. Jugendlichen erzählt wird, ist nämlich aufgrund der Verfilmung des Romans von 1962 etwas in Vergessenheit geraten. So steht in dieser nicht nur der Vergewaltigungsprozess, der über die Hälfte der Filmzeit in Anspruch nimmt, im Mittelpunkt der Handlung, sondern auch der erwachsene Protagonist
