Diese Dokumentation erinnert an Hans-Ulrich von Oertzen, der als junger Generalstabsoffizier zum Kern der Männer um Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg gehörte und sich vor der Verhaftung durch die Gestapo das Leben nahm, um keinen Kameraden zu verraten. Philipp Freiherr von Boeselager, der letzte Überlebende des innersten Kreises dieser Widerstandgruppe: "Wenn man an den militärischen Widerstand denkt, dann fallen einem sofort die Namen Oster, von Tresckow, Stauffenberg ein, wobei Oster der Verstand, Tresckow das Herz und Stauffenberg der mutige Arm des Widerstand war. Aber ohne Männer wie Hans-Ulirch von Oertzen wäre das Attentat auf Hitler und seine Planung gar nicht möglich gewesen." Nach dem Krieg geriet Hans-Ulrich von Oertzen für Jahrzehnte in Vergessenheit.
About the Author: Henning von Buchwaldt wurde 1943 auf den mecklenburgischen Gut Rattey bei Friedland geboren, wo Hans-Ulrich von Oertzen prägende Kinderjahre verbrachte. Seine Mutter Bertha, eine geborene von Oertzen, war als Erbin des Gutes eine Cousine des zum engsten Kreis der Widerstandkämpfer um Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg gehörenden Hans-Ulrich, der sein Leben für Deutschland gab. Als sich nach der Wende 1989 die gesellschaftliche Situation in Deutschland änderte, sorgte sie dafür, dass ihrem Vetter über die Familie hinaus die gebührende öffentliche Ehrung zu Teil wurde und Hans-Ulrich von Oertzen seinen Platz in der Geschichtsschreibung fand. Nach ihrem Tod setzte Henning von Buchwaldt ihr Engagement fort, der zum 75. Jahrestag des 20. Juli 1944 im vergangenen Jahr einen beeindruckenden Gedenkgottesdienst organisierte und zum 75. Jahrestag der Befreiung vom Nationalsozialismus diese Dokumentation über seinen Großcousin herausgibt.
