Doktorarbeit / Dissertation aus dem Jahr 2000 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Klassiker und Theorierichtungen, Note: cum laude, Universität Mannheim (Fakultät für Sozialwissenschaften), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Es gibt in den Sozialwissenschaften traditionell zwei kontroverse Sichtweisen: eine ist individualistisch und wird in den letzten Jahren oft mit dem Namen "Rational Choice" belegt, die andere ist kollektivistisch und macht in jüngerer Zeit unter der Bezeichnung "Kommunitarismus" von sich reden. Die beiden Traditionen unterscheiden sich u.a. in ihrem grundlegenden Menschenbild. Die Individualisten gehen von einem selbständigen und willensstarken Menschen aus, der stets bestrebt ist, seinen Nutzen zu maximieren. Kollektivisten dagegen betonen die Abhängigkeit und Formbarkeit des Menschen und nehmen an, daß Personen in erster Linie konform zu sozialen Normen handeln. Hiermit ist auch der Kern einer von Kommunitaristen nur implizit vertretenen Handlungstheorie umrissen. Im Zentrum der vorl. Arbeit steht die umstrittene Frage, ob moralisches Handeln mit Hilfe eines nutzentheoretischen Vokabulars angemessen zu erfassen ist. Hierzu werden die Argumente von Robert Bellah, Amitai Etzioni, Alasdair MacIntyre, Charles Taylor, Michael Baurmann, Gary Becker, James Coleman, Hartmut Esser, Robert Frank, Viktor Vanberg u.a. vorgestellt und diskutiert, daneben auch sprachanalytische Überlegungen von John Searle. Die in dieser Dissertation vorgeschlagene Lösung einer handlungstheoretischen Konzeption von "Moral" lautet wie folgt: am methodologischen Individualismus wird zwar festgehalten, von der Prämisse eines strikt nutzen- und entscheidungstheoretischen Vokabulars jedoch abgegangen. Um die Personen über längere Zeiträume prägenden und dabei ihre subjektiven Erwartungen und Bewertungen maßgeblich modifizierenden Einflüsse ihrer sozialen Umwelt theoretisch sinnvoll einarbeiten zu können, muß eine Handlungstheorie die Anwendung behavioristischer Verhaltensgesetze zulassen - ein
