Aber wie soll das genau aussehen? Was bedeutet eigentlich Handlungsorientierung, wenn man von Unterricht und Schule spricht? Fest steht, dass es bislang noch kein abschließendes theoretisches Begründungskonzept für handlungsorientiertes Lernen gibt. Diese Art des Lernens und Unterrichtens hat sich vielmehr in den letzten 25 Jahren aus der Praxis heraus entwickelt. Einzelne Aspekte kön-nen auch theoretisch begründet werden, ein umfassendes Konzept fehlt allerdings. Dies bestätigt auch Gudjons, wenn er schreibt: "Es fehlt bislang ein umfassendes theoretisches Begründungskonzept für den handlungsorientierten Unterricht" (Gudjons, 1998, S. 109). Auch in einem seiner früheren Aufsätze hatte Gudjons bereits herausgestellt: "Es fehlt doch bis heute eine umfassende Begründungstheorie auf der Grundlage moderner Hand-lungstheorie(n), kognitiver Lernpsychologie oder subjektorientierter Didaktik" (Gudjons, 1997, S. 7) für den Ansatz des handlungsorientierten Lernens. Auch Meyer bestätigt diese Tatsache (vgl. Meyer, 2005, S. 155 f.) wenngleich er an-schließt, dass "man ... immer ein theoretisches Modell des Verhältnisses von Unterricht und Lernerfolg [braucht], in das dann Ursache-Wirkungs-Ketten eingebaut werden" (ibid, S. 156). Diese Aussage verdeutlicht, dass noch keine abschließende Beurteilung des Er-folgs von handlungsorientiertem Lernen aufgrund von theoretischen Begründungsmodel-len möglich ist. Theoriegeleitet steht Handlungsorientierter unterricht damit auf eher dün-nen Beinen. Es gibt allerdings einige Begründungen, die diese Art des Unterrichtens und Lernens kennzeichnen. Diese werden im Kapitel 3: Begründungen für handlungsorientierten Unter-richt näher untersucht.
