About the Book

Steel Dust holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts and is the author, and ghostwriter of thirty-nine books. Her most recent masterpiece entitled, "The Wild Cow" is the latest book to be added to her repertoire - a collection of writings for equestrian enthusiasts of all ages. And although her catalog comprises a multitude of topics, it is her books regarding, "The Purposed Survivor Series" that are most compelling. Steel began writing in 2007 and in May of 2009 began her company, Novels by Steel Dust. Beyond just publishing, Steel flourishes in journalism. Her foremost goal in writing and in creating Novels by Steel Dust is to empower the reader and remind us of our objective; Live on Purpose. "The true reason I was guided to use the pen and write; touch the lives of those directed into my path then help guide them into greatness" she states. In regards, to the initial goal, she has furthered efforts of expanding her knowledge developed over four decades of experiences, to horseman's awareness of the "the grass remembers them," the horse. Steel has but one goal in mind; knowledge is power. If she can eliminate equine abuse through deliberate or inadvertent actions, by developing someone's education she has achieved the objective. Pursuing this new- found career, opened chapters that have developed into a true calling. The ranch Steel called Blue Moon Equestrian transformed into Haystack Stables. The factious character in her children's books. Haystack is a black Appaloosa quarter horse, who in one series befriends a young boy named, Adam. In the next series, Haystack partners up with Marshal Spur to catch the Outlaw, Curb Bit. Carried on by the Western Saga, of Mathew and Cash. Every day with a horse will expose any horsemen to work in all sorts of conditions; the hot summer heat, stinging sweat in the eyes, spring mud up to the knees. Then winter, breaking the ice on the water pails, snow falling, and ice storms. But, even with all these inconveniences, I realized one thing. I have been blessed by God to have the best job in the world; spending every day with a horse. A competent trainer must have a passion in their heart for horses. However, the only way to learn proper horsemanship is from an equestrian professional. For example, I had the privilege to be instructed by two world hall of fame trainers; Pete Kyle and Lighting Leonard Moore. They taught me the art of patience and perfection. Two things that are a constant struggle when handling horses. A literal reference that has given me insight when handling a horse. "In any question of wisdom or prudence which the king put to them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his kingdom." Daniel 1; 20: Many years ago, I chose to handle and train the "Problem Horse." Which soon made me realize most of these horses were n't the basics. For instance, giving to pressure is not a natural response for the horse. From these horse training experiences, I began to realize that many trainers in the world weren't educated about the horses' natural instincts. Even though man domesticated Equus around 4000 B.C., there are sixty million years of evolution to be considered, and such instincts as these, do not fade away overnight. My goal in writing the "The Handbook of Horsemanship" is to help anyone who reads the book to become a better horseman and to understand that training a horse is done by using patience and perfection, not abuse.
