About the Book

Are you tired of commuting to the office?

Are you tired of being trapped in a cubicle?
Would you like more freedom to say when, where, and how you do your work?
Would you like more control of your daily schedule?
Would you like more freedom to take care of family and personal concerns?
Would you like to work in a way that adds more joy and meaning to your life now versus some far off time in the future?

If so, there is great news!

In today's world, there are more opportunities than ever to design a way to work that is more positive, fulfilling, and puts you in control. In this book, author and entrepreneur John Stevenot discusses how to get more control over your daily work environment and improve the quality of your life.

There are three elements or "win conditions" that are key. These are gaining control of your time, location, and income.

In this book you'll learn about,

  • The three ways to work - the office life, the tethered life, and the remote life - and how each offers opportunities to give you more control of your workday.
  • How to persuade your boss or employer on the idea of working remotely.
  • Tactics for increasing your effectiveness through task-management, time-blocking, automation, and dispensing non-essentials through "task-recycling."
  • The importance of ongoing skill development and how to become more valuable at work.
  • Effective ways to make trade-offs to better focus on the things that matter.
  • What it means to pay the "Luck Premium" - a long-term bedrock for gaining more control of your work life.
  • The essentials of establishing a different mindset for work - one with more freedom, more control, and more enjoyment.
  • The importance of living more fully in the present because no one knows for sure how much time he or she will have in the future.

About the Author

John Stevenot was born in 1990 and grew up in Cincinnati, OH. He attended St. Xavier High School and graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business. Unexpectedly, John passed away in his sleep at age 28 due to a rare and asymptomatic heart condition. The manuscript on which this book is based was published posthumously by his family.

A serious student of life and business, John was an avid reader and an early adopter of working remotely and controlling one's "time and location." John believed in working hard and living life to its fullest.

Particularly powerful are John's exhortations that time in the present is more valuable than time in the future because the the existence of the future has no guarantee.
