About the Book

Jonathan Swift, born in 1667 and died in 1745, was an Anglo-Irish satirist. Initially. He had gone to England. He had found work at Sir William Temple as secretary. When he died, he had returned to Ireland. This return to the fold had encouraged him to write "The Battle of Books" to plead the cause of his former employer. In 1726 he had published the book "Gulliver's Travels," or Travels Into Several Remote Nations of the World. In Four Parts. By Lemuel Gulliver, First on Surgeon, and then on Captain of Several Ships. This work was begun in 1721, a work written in four parts. It marked a peak in social and political satire through a description of the imaginary, philosophy, fantasy and science fiction. For his first trip, Gulliver suffered a shipwreck that took him to Lilliput Island. The inhabitants had a tiny size, they measured fifteen centimeters. This intrusion led the Lilliputians to chain it to examine it. Then he was taken to the capital home of the king, who finally decided to leave him free, in view of his good behavior. He learned the language of the country and was able to talk to the king about different topics. The queen could not accept her action of extinguishing the fire of the palace with her urine. He was sentenced to finish his days, blind. This sentence forced him to flee with a wreck found at sea. For his second trip, Gulliver was abandoned by his companions, having frightened the giants of Brobdingnag. This time, he's the dwarf among the twenty-meter giants. A peasant picked it up and brought it home. He was adopted by the grand daughter of the giant master of the place. This one has made a fair curious beast. Gulliver ended at the king's court where the queen was attached to him. This situation will allow him to converse with the king. During a trip, a bird of prey removed it and dropped it at sea. A fishing boat on the way rescued it. For his third trip, his boat was taken by pirates, he was abandoned at sea and was able to reach a desert island. Curiously, he could see above him a flying island of Laputa. After being allowed to join them, he found that this mysterious island was inhabited by strange scientists entirely in their thoughts. He left her to join the mainland of Balnibardi. In this country, all the houses and fields were weird. He visited the Lagado Academy, where researchers were doing the most far-fetched research, including book typewriters. He joined Maldonada to try to go to Japan, by the way, he visited the island of Glubbdubdrib where the governor was able to put him in touch with the great men of the past. He arrived in the kingdom of Luggnagg where he discovered the struldbrugs, which had the characteristic of being immortal, but who had the misfortune to grow old and become senile. He had finally arrived in Japan where he was exempted from walking on the cross and from where he could reach England. For the fourth trip, his men had mutinied against him and they had deposited him on an unknown island. He was attacked by the Yahoos, wild creatures that look like men. It was recovered by the houyhnhnms, a kind of horse with intelligence and reason and lived in society. He was fortunate enough to befriend the houyhnhnm master, with whom he had long conversations and admired his attachment to virtue. Unfortunately, the assembly of the houyhnhnms considered that this friendship was degrading for the houyhnhnms. This situation forced Gulliver to leave the country after three years. He had built a raft and managed to return to England.
