About the Author: I was born to an unknown man and a wayward mother. To this day I still don't know who my father is. My mother left me to go to prison 3 times when I was a child for more than 6 months, and countless times I saw her in hand cuffs. As a child, I was homeless 3 times; in VA and NC. I went to over 30 schools between K1 and 12th grade, from NY to Mississippi. I've lived in a half dozen different "Projects", countless trailer parks, and numerous motels. I had my innocence taken by female babysitters when I was five years old. I had sex the first time with a girl when I was ten years old. I was made to sell crack and was taught to master shop lifting before I was 12. In school I was picked on and called names like pizza face, 4 eyes, nigger and half breed by the kids; all while the system labeled me as special needs and truant. That same system tried to put me on Ridlin, tried to send me to YDC in SC, and said I had ADD and was retarded. At 15 I was taken into the custody of the state of SC because my mother threatened to kill me in front of the Police. I was put into 2 different foster homes where I had to work 2 jobs and go to school, trying to survive. I was a runaway at 16 to Atlanta; I was emancipated by SC and largely on my own by 17. My last year of high school I failed 5 of the eight classes I took my senior year; because I slept in most classes because I had to work at night to survive. I lost all the scholarship opportunities I had worked hard for and in the process nearly dropped out of school and life. All of this happened before my 19th birthday. But I never forget to be in it, not of it After high school in 1999 I went on to enter the Marine Corps and proudly served this country in 3 combat theaters to include a tour in Iraq after 9-11. After honorably serving 4 years for this country, I made the decision to leave the Marines and return to Atlanta. I accepted a job as a Police Officer with the transit system where I succeeded and failed every day. After 2 1/2 years I decided to leave Police work and take a risk in business for myself. This book and others to come are parts of my strategy and legacy to help change humanity. We are effected by two things: environment and influence; all else is in our choosing... CHOOSE TO BE IN IT, NOT OF IT.
