About the Book

The Guide for the Procurement of Engineered Equipment simplifies the procurement of complexly engineered equipment into twelve easy steps, giving the user a quick start in understanding the total procurement cycle. Through this twelve-step process, readers receive user-friendly guidance in designing, engineering, quality assurance, and the procurement or manufacturing of complex equipment for any industry, such as power plants, chemical and industrial plants, refineries, mining, or even custom home-building projects. With this handbook, you won't need to memorize or struggle with starting a process for any phase. The procurement process is defined in three phases:1) From technical specification to creating a request for proposal, vendorqualification, vendor bids or proposals, bids evaluation, and finally tosigning a contract with a selected vendor or supplier.2) Preproduction to fabrication, testing and inspections, and release forshipment.3) Shipping to delivery, final receipt inspection, and acceptance by thebuyer or customer.Even if you have never been involved in the procurement process of engineered equipment, The Guide for the Procurement of Engineered Equipment will prepare you for the challenging procurement-related activities and enhance your overall talent for critical projects, ultimately helping you fulfill your triumphs. Also a useful training guide, The Guide for the Procurement of Engineered Equipment will introduce readers interested in procuring or manufacturing engineered equipment to the best practices for any industry.
About the Author: Ramesh (RD) Patel was born in India and earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1967. He then moved to the United States for further studies and earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering in 1970. Since then he has worked in the nuclear power plant industry for forty years, including thirty-five with GE Nuclear Energy in San Jose, California, in various engineering capacities. Patel was a member of several nuclear-related American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) code committees for over twenty-five years and is currently a contributing member of one of the nuclear piping code committees. He has coauthored five technical papers in the nuclear field and was a coinventor for three patents while working at GE Nuclear Energy. During his time in the nuclear field, Patel was involved in the development of critical procurement processes for the designing and purchasing of engineered equipment for a large project. The author used his forty years of experience and know-how to write this guide for the benefit of people involved in the procurement of engineered equipment in industrial/commercial projects, including engineers, designers, trainers, quality assurance engineers, and vendors. A professional engineer in the state of California, Patel has been a consultant for the nuclear industry since retiring from GE in November 2009. He currently lives with his family in California.

A Thrilling But Totally Believable Murder Mystery

Read this in one evening. I had planned to do other things with my day, but it was impossible to put down. Every time I tried, I was drawn back to it in less than 5 minutes. I sobbed my eyes out the entire last 100 pages. Highly recommend!
