About the Book

Midas Millem is a magical world, for eons the realm has seen ages of Gods, Dragons and now... The age of the Guardians. The Guardians are a coven of powerful beings chartered with the task of protecting, anchoring and nurturing the elemental magic of the realm. Ermir the Fairy, Ogeanthos the Meermin King, Yllette the Woodland Sprite and Machawii The Dragon-born Grand Witch are blessed with powerful marks which bind them to magic and Midas Millem itself. Acting as a conduit for the magic to flow through, the Guardians successfully prevent and control the contamination of magic by the Darkness for hundreds of years, that is until the Darkness infiltrates the inner circle. When the Grand Witch Machawii succumbs to the thrall of the Darkness the Guardian circle collapses. Puppeteered by the Darkness, Machawii makes her play for an ancient magic buried deep beneath the surface but requires several powerful ingredients for the extraction ritual; some of which she already possesses: Dark Magic, the Guardian mark of Zeme(earth), Amanzi (water) and Tuuli (air). Unfortunately, when Machawii aligned herself with the Darkness, her mark of Eldur (fire) abandoned her and sought a new host. The New Guardian named Letaka, is a humble tribal warrior from a small territory in the south-east of the Sudol Region called Mtanyongo. The Mtanyongo people have an unpleasant relationship with magic and have outlawed the practice of magic for many generations, little do they know that "one of their own" have been born with powerful gifts. The young man has managed to keep his abilities secret from all but one: his best friend Ntsabii. Letaka and Ntsabii are a force to be reckoned with within the tribe and only the inevitable exposure of Letaka's abilities can disrupt such a perfect and peaceful existence. The young wizard's true nature is exposed before the entire tribe sparking outrage, hostility and the death of a loved one. Forced from his home, Letaka, accompanied by his dear friend Ntsabii, set off on a magical journey for answers. Little did he know, his answers would point him in the direction of the captured Guardian circle or unveil the truth behind his true heritage and the fall of a powerful race of magic users known as Kilatians. The young Guardian's quest takes him to kingdoms he had only ever heard about. From the regal kingdom of Domovina to the breathtaking dunes of Alaria, Letaka faces drama, heartache, loss and adventure. Are the skills he learns and the people he discovers along the way by chance? Or does destiny have a more active approach in meddling with the lives of Midas Millem? Who can say, but what is certain, is that Letaka's quest changes the lives of many people along the way for better and for worse, as long forgotten secrets of Midas Millem claw their way into the daylight once more. The Darkness is always trying to escape its infernal prison, The Guardians of Midas Millem is merely one of its attempts at freedom.
