About the Book

WHEN BRITIAN NEEDED SOMEONE GREAT. ONLY ONE MAN WOULD DO.George Entwistle was a child of the Industrial Revolution. Born in the hellish slums of Victorian Manchester, England.A poor working class lad he fought in the Second Boer War.Betrayed and badly wounded George is reborn with the help of The Mechanic, a genius of the new Mechanical Age. That's when George was chosen, by Churchill himself, to be the Great Briton.George is indebted to Churchill, the great leader has a profound influence throughout his life.George is hounded by dark controlling government agencies, he strides through history, conflicted by feelings of duty, serving his country and of revolution.George is determined to be his own man.The world's first superhero. Flawed, socialist, Mancunian and now the most powerful man on the planet. The Great Briton by author G.R. Heywood, is an action adventure, superhero parody and political satire that will make you believe in REAL life heroes. Kensington Gore Publishing are proud to present The Great Briton.
About the Author: Born in Manchester around the birth of British Beatlemania, G.R. Heywood was a product of the 'working class explosion' of the 1960's. Having been moved out of their condemned property in the City the family were relocated to one of the many council overspill estates on the outer reaches. Having progressed to Grammar School, Heywood left to find work rather than go on to University and rather fell into the drab world of insurance, which has plagued him throughout his life. One of the side effects of Thatcherism in the 1980's was the author's economic migration to the Home Counties, where he settled into the anonymous new town of Milton Keynes, which back then was a number of roundabouts and a cycle path. Always a keen reader, he only started to write when he was too old to play football and found no other hobby to replace it. A series of crime thrillers commenced, set in his spiritual home of Manchester, combining the gritty realism of a criminal life with dark Mancunian humour. His influences stretch from James Ellroy, through Jo Nesbo and Simon Sebag Montefiori to Julia Donaldson. The deeper and darker the story the better. Any book which has the word 'dystopian' on the cover will not make his bookshelf. A keen student of revolutionary politics he has taken great interest in the revolutions of Russia, China and France and often wondered why the British revolution did not begin in his own radical home town. Perhaps that is a story yet to be written. The Great Briton is the first of a series of tales that pits a working class superhero against the class ridden society that created him. Because a working class superhero is something to be.
