A BOLD Prayer is a request that honors God, and is in line with His WILL (Words, Intentions, Love, Legacy), Commands, and Promises for YOUR life. Bold prayers are especially crucial for the LGBTQ community, for a myriad of obvious reasons. LGBTQ is an acronym that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. We all need BOLD prayers. However, the LGBTQ people need BOLD prayers, more now than ever before!
In my homeland of Cameroon, the LGBTQ people face legal challenges since male and female same-sex activity has been deemed illegal since 1972. Section 347 (1) of the Penal Code, Law no. 2016/007 of 12/7/2016 relating to homosexuality provides thus: "Whoever has sexual relations with a person of the same sex shall be punished with imprisonment from six months to five years and a fine of from 20.000FCFA to 200.000FCFA."
LGBTQ people in Cameroon face stigmatization among the broader population constantly. In May 2021, two transgender women, a YouTube celebrity Shakiro and her friend Patricia, were sentenced to five years' imprisonment under Cameroon's anti-homosexuality laws. Their sentencing followed their arrest in February while dining at a restaurant.
Like racism, and all forms of prejudice, bigotry against LGBTQ people is a deadly virus that we must all fight against, as humans, to eradicate! We are all created by God in His image, and He loves every single one of us unconditional, irrespective of who we love. God loves us and commands us to love others.
