About the Book

A wonderful accounting of memories of a quieter time. Two great influences on my youth were my dear maternal grandparents. They believed in the Golden Rule and that when you gave your word you kept it. After all, isn't that all we really have? Granddaddy was funny and serious, a farmer and Bible School teacher, while Grandmother was the epitome of the farmers wife, selling butter and eggs and canning everything she could get into a mason jar. A recounting of a Granddaddy who was spiritual and funny and had a response for almost anything. Included are all of the sayings she ever heard him utter plus a few more that, even though he might not have said them, they make her think of him. And of a Grandmother who, though blind, could see far beyond the visual. Whos calm demeanor would settle even the most upset child. These wonderful memories are too good to keep to oneself. People today need to go back to that simpler time if only for a visit.
About the Author: I was raised in the south and grew up on a farm working hard with my hands. We were rich, we just didn't have any money. I had so many positive influences in my life like my Mama and Daddy, who were totally in love with each other until Daddy passed away after 67 years of marriage. Mama is still in love with him and I am sure wherever he is, it's the same with him. We struggled but we had fun. I remember laughing a lot during my childhood. Daddy and Mama worked as hard as any people I have ever known. Daddy was fair to his children and did not expect us to work more than half a day and he let us choose which 12 hours it was. And a day off? Never. There was always something that needed doing and cows had to be milked twice a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The night of my Senior Prom I had to milk two cows before I put on my chiffon dress. Though raised in Alabama, I now live in Trion Georgia with my adult daughter, Christie, who deals with developmental disablities. I am the President of ARCC-Applied Resources of Chattooga County which supports people with developmental disabilities. I serve as the chairperson for the Quality Improvement Council of Region 1 in Georgia and on the State Quality Improvement Council as well. I serve on the Board of Directors for ROCC-Resource One of Chattooga County, which deals with mental health issues and drug addiction. I attend the Pennville Church of Christ.
