About the Book

English description: The history of Jerusalem during the Islamic Middle Ages was not confined to the foundation of sanctuaries, and the struggle over their control - even if these aspects could not be ignored in the context of Jerusalem. Different kinds of sources - buildings, inscriptions, documents and chronicles - inform us about the history of Jerusalem between the Fatimids and the Ottomans, and on the changing social and political factors which shaped the urban environment.
