About the Book

Dottie Reed was raised in the church and accepted Christ at an early age. As a young adult, though she had what looked like a perfectly fulfilling life, she began to sense that something vital was missing. One night, she realized what was missing in her life was a close relationship with God. Early the next morning she opened her Bible to the Gospel of John (having heard this was the best chapter for a "new" Christian to start). As she read, the scriptures seemed to tell a story in rhyme. She was so inspired that she began translating the entire book of John into a poem-a labor of love that took more than two years. As she interpreted the narrative into lyrical form, foremost in her mind was to remain faithful to the original text. This book is the result of that effort. Her prayer is that this work will glorify God and bless the life of every reader. Summing up her spiritual journey, Mrs. Reed concludes, "To really KNOW Jesus Christ, I had to LIVE for Him!"
About the Author: My name is Dottie Reed and I'm here to attest, I'm amazed at how I believe God is using me to share His Word. I have no college degrees to add after my name, but I'm finding that might not be completely needed; beneficial of course, but not essential to accomplish God's will. God tells us, as I think of it, through His Holy Word, we need Him the most. We try Him first, last and all in between and see what happens! It took me quite a while to find this out. My parents were the best! They loved the six of us children, they gave us the necessities of life...sometimes month to month! We all worked hard, and laughed, loved and helped each other in so many ways. How so thankful am I to have been born into the Mitchell family at Duncan, Mississippi! We grew up going to church, I gave my heart to Jesus at age 11. Just after graduation, I married my high school sweetheart, Joe Wayne Reed. At age 20, I became a mother of a beautiful little girl we named Lori; five years later we had a little boy, Joe W. Reed, Jr. Time passed so fast, ups and downs all in between. We still went to church, but that was about it. Then after 30 or so years, I realized with all we had accomplished (a successful construction business, home, children), nothing was completely satisfying. Then one night at age 47, I realized God was Who I needed. I had known Him for years and years, but hadn't lived for Him. The night I gave my repentance, I shall never forget the peace that came over me. After rededicating my life to Christ, I taught Sunday School and Children's church, through which I was inspired to create a couple of children's books, "JONAH" and "BARTIMAEUS." I am currently praying God will show me how to bring these illustrated children's stories to life. I continue to journal my prayers and devotionals every morning. My life is filled with His blessings of family, joy and love. May all praise be directed to Him who is our "All in All."
