Macaws, which are very popular as pets, can live up to 50 years. Because of their popularity as pets, some species are becoming scarce in the wild and are listed as endangered. They're adept at imitating sounds and can be taught to say several simple words. Their diet consists of fruits, seeds and leaves found in tropical settings.
