"Good Job, Dragon!" was written by Melisssa Lopez, a mother of three kids. Melissa's youngest son is on the Autism Spectrum, also, he absolutely loves dragons! Melissa noticed he was struggling with reading and social skills during early grade-level schooling. So she decided to search for reading materials that would boost his confidence while building his reading and social skills. It was important to find books that would allow Melissa's son to apply what he already knew about numbers, colors, and object identification - all while keeping him engaged, starting from the front cover to the very last page. Though there are many children's books featuring dinosaurs, there are very few dragon-theme books for early readers. So, Melissa decided to write "Good Job, Dragon!"!
Finding the perfect toy dragon to feature in the book was very, very, easy, as Melissa's son had collected dozens of them over the years! Melissa photographed all the images in "Good Job, Dragon!" herself.
Melissa's husband, Sam, created a prototype of the rough draft of "Good Job, Dragon!". Melissa had her son's professional therapists include it in her son's therapy. The therapists loved reading "Good Job, Dragon!" because they noticed how well Melissa's son participated in reading the book and exclaiming, "Good Job, Dragon!"!
Melisa was told that other children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) had participated in the read-alongs of "Good Job, Dragon!" during their therapy sessions as well. They loved meeting 'Dragon'!
Melissa decided to share "Good Job, Dragon!" with all readers of all ages and abilities.
Dragon enthusiast or not, you're sure to love "Good Job, Dragon!"!
