About the Book

Set in 48 A.D. ten-year-old peasant boy Messala loses his father to a Roman military commander over an outstanding debt. One morning he finds his village massacred, and soon flees the country with his mother Sophia, leaving behind his two friends, Sarah, a little Jewish girl, and Nero, the heir to the throne. Twenty years later Messala returns home, avenges his father and accidentally rids the court of its worst enemy. In her gratitude Nero's mother, Agrippina, has him released from jail and re-united with her son. Later, Messala encounters Sarah and falls for her. She tries to discourage him from pursuing her, but Messala is persistent. A traumatic incident in the city of Capua, however, brings them closer together. Agrippina then turns up at the house Messala is staying at and finds Sarah alone and passed out in bed. A branding on her skin reveals her hidden secret... she is a Christian. In Rome Agrippina tries to seduce Messala because he reminds her of a past love. When he rejects her, she threatens him with imprisonment over his association with Sarah. Messala finds himself in a race against time to save himself and the love of his life from dying on the cross. 'The Golden House' is a heart-breaking tale that resonates with today's world, with an ending that will forever burn into the audience's memory at home and worldwide.
About the Author: I moved to California from Germany where I acted professionally on TV. In 2006 I moved to San Francisco to go to college. I had to drop out because I couldn't afford it anymore, but I learned a lot in that time. I was a finalist in a writing contest. I didn't win, but I was invited to Los Angeles to meet with producers. Nothing happened after that, of course, but it was a good experience for me. I recently relocated to southern California and started pitching my scripts to dozens of agents, managers and production companies. 'The Golden House' almost got me representation at Gersh, but the agent I spoke to didn't sign me because I was unable to move to L.A. at the time. After that, I gave the script to a management company called Writemovies.com and its founder praised the characters, structure and marketability. I had to make some minor revisions, but then I couldn't give it to him for a second read because I couldn't pay him. Six months later one of the executive producers of 'Finding Neverland' read it and she loved it, but she couldn't help me either because it exceeded their budget. In the same year, through a paid service called virtual-pitchfest, I queried Palak Patel who produced Oz the Great and Powerful, and Snow White and the Huntsman. He requested the script, but he never got back to me. It's the kind of script Ridley Scott would wanna direct. So now I'm here, hoping to break into the industry and get discovered. 'The Golden House' is a powerful drama/thriller that contains strong characters, a great story and plot, with powerful twists and turns, and the ending is more memorable and gut-wrenching than any movie we have seen in years. Thanks for reading.
