In a crowded upstairs room in Jerusalem there huddled 120 people praying for a miracle. These were what was left of the thousands of people who had followed Jesus just a couple months before. These were the faithful, the ones who just couldn't give up on the idea that He had raised from the dead and would bring the victory they hungered for. These were the obedient, gathered in this room in prayer and expectation because Jesus had promised that the Holy Spirit was about to come upon them in power and they would be His witnesses throughout the world. Then it happened. "Pentecost!"
A lot has happened since those first century saints changed the world by their relentless, undying, life altering faith. Faith became religion and in the name of religion, we have had wars, crusades, the Dark Ages, Reformation, Divisions and denominations, Missionary Movements, and the Great Awakening. We have also had so many changes in technology, scientific discovery, inventions and innovations that have made our way of life and interaction very different with our neighbors, our communities, and the world around us. Has God changed too?
"Going Rogue, Practical Faith in the 21st Century" takes a hard look at the faith that conquered empires and changed the world in the 1st century and asks if that same faith can change the way we live today.
