About the Book

When God says, "I am here" is the true story of a little girl desperate to be loved in a world of fear and suffering, and finding the greatest love of all in Jesus Christ when He comes to visit her. It is written in the first person as a seven-year-old would tell the story. The vocabulary is simple and to the point so that children of a similar age can read it for themselves and know they are loved, no matter what their circumstances. The colorful illustrations portray the story where words are lacking and provide a backdrop for children who have suffered abuse to relate to the experience of this little girl, while at the same time conveying the love of God to children from all backgrounds without the need for abuse to be explained. The soft cover and book size is ideal for both children to read on their own and adults to read with them. This book would make an excellent gift for any child (or adult) that needs to know they are loved and that God is real.
About the Author: Jesus Christ has been Petra's best friend since 28 Feb 1973, one week before her seventh birthday. His visitation rescued her from the depths of darkness and fear that come with abuse, secrecy and isolation. "I can honestly say, without Him, I would not be here today." The grace and mercy of God extended unconditional love to her, and a deep friendship based on trust and honesty. It changed everything, even when circumstances didn't change. It was the end to isolation, deliverance from fear, the beginning of hope, and a peace that has carried her through the most challenging things in life. After that first visit, all she wanted was more. She would ask her mother every time they passed a church, if they could go inside to hear the bells ring; in truth, she wanted to see if Jesus was there. Sometimes He was, and sometimes He wasn't. She loved to go to bed at night, because He would often visit her in her dreams. As a young adult, Petra worked for several years as a shepherdess in the Borders of Scotland. "I felt close to Him there. I had no need for people." But when she became a mother, she desperately wanted her children to know Him like she did and she didn't know how to do that. She started asking churches if they would christen her children. Through a series of circumstances she found herself in a charismatic church one Sunday and realised for the first time that there were other people who also knew Jesus personally. After 22 years of silence she finally told someone else about the visitation. This became the start of another journey with God, which led to both her children finding Jesus themselves, and to her stepping into full-time ministry. Today she travels and speaks internationally, has founded two ministries, hosts tours to Israel and loves to spend time helping people find Jesus and inner healing through equine psycho-therapeutic horsemanship. She lives in Cambridge, England.
