Go SEO Yourself is the book to read in 2018 if you are looking to transform your career search. Are you in between jobs?
Have you taken any time off from your career for children or a health issue?
Have you been laid off?
Are you over 50? Has the job environment changed, but you haven't?
Were you in a startup that did not work out and you need to get back into corporate America for the benefits?
The average career in the US is now 4.4 years. At any given time over 90 million Americans are out of work. At any point you may have to start over looking for a job. They say we are at full employment in the US, but obviously job loyalty is at an all time low.
The Job Apocalyse! The reason I wrote this book is I was struggling with rebuilding my career after working on tech startups and taking time off from a full-time job. Whether you took time off to have children, travelled, had an illness, a startup that did not workout, semi-retired or just were not working for a while, getting back to work for a full-time employer is not always simple. What I discovered in the short time I had left the corporate world is that applying for jobs was increasingly difficult, but there was an opportunity to use my SEO skills to switch from being the hunter to being the hunted. I reversed the job search process and since my phone has never stopped ringing!
Go SEO Yourself takes a common sense approach most online marketers apply to getting found online and applies those principles to finding a job online using a ton of amazing tools all available for free across the Internet. This books covers what websites you MUST be found on, how and why to set up your online resumes and profiles and the keywords and tagging required to get found inside of job websites and to get discovered through Google's Search Engine. In both marketing SEO and your personal SEO you need what we call authority. Authority is why employers contact you and why you need to consistently build your online presence.
Why did I write this book? When I first approached the job market when going back to work I realized that I was out of step just by not working in a corporate job for several years. The process I used, using the Internet to generate leads for work, not only got me hired, it ended up transforming my career, how people view me and ultimately I began getting jobs at a higher level than before I left corporate America. Instead of me hunting for jobs, the jobs found me. I had reversed the push to pull and now the employers became the hunters.
Why read Go SEO Yourself? Whether you need to find a job or not, this book covers what I feel are every aspect of what you need to know when setting up your online profiles, where to be online, how to do it and more importantly how to build YOUR online community and personal branding. That is something a lot of top consultants know well. As part of your authority building, you need to build a following, show your expertise and flex your online muscles to get noticed.
By the end of my experiment with building SEO authority for my resume and career, I started to get hired by being called by employers directly. I receive anywhere from 5 to 25 calls a day for jobs. My voicemail box has overflowed. My email box is overflowing with headhunters.
If you need to make a change or you know of a friend or family member who needs to make a change in how they are looking for work, then Go SEO Yourself must be read tonight!
