About the Book

The Glory World And Guiteau by William McFarland "Wayside" is part of a collection of some creative stories and poems written originally by a writer who lived in the 1800s. The original writer, William McFarland, was my great, great, great grandpa. This book, THE GLORY WORLD AND GUITEAU, was thus handed down from one generation to another and it is part of my family's heirlooms and a part of my family legacy. I am putting the name 'Wayside' on all his works as that was his pen name! There is some POLITICAL HUMOR, political mystery and political intrigue behind this book. This is quite unique in that this was hidden and preserved for over 123 years by my family and handed down from one generation of my family to another. The works here are thought provoking in my opinion. Since this book here is a fictional story from long ago that was not published before and was kept hidden for at least 123 years after it was written about the PRESIDENT GARFIELD AND HIS ASSASSINATION BY CHARLES GUITEAU, it may be interesting to those that adore history and/or politics. It does make one think and wonder and question things. LOADS OF IMAGES INCLUDED INSIDE THE BOOK TAKEN FROM THE ACTUAL ANTIQUE MANUSCRIPT CONTAINING WAYSIDE'S WRITINGS!! THE GLORY WORLD AND GUITEAU talks also in this fictionary story about the TRIAL of Charles Guiteau and the feelings the writer had about this trial. So what happened to Guiteau? What happened to President Garfield? Also included in this book are three more short stories which are similar in topic to The Glory World And Guiteau and were also written originally by my great, great, great grandfather on that side of the family, William McFarland "Wayside," in the late 1800s and which I have included some of the images from the original, handwritten manuscript. He was a real person and he had wanted these stories to be put into a printed book but he did not live long enough to do so. So I am doing this for him! The story enclosed which is fictional called, "Pisgah Or The Great Resolvent" is about Salvation and one being made white as snow. The story "Machine Prayer" is a political fictional story about similar topics as The Glory World And Guiteau as well as a fictional story entitled "The Machine And The Calf" which is also political and religious in nature. All of these writings were written by Wayside in the late 1800s. This should be a good book to read for any that adores politics especially from history of long ago, any history buffs, family genealogists. The last part of the book is a poem called "THE MACHINE" which has the same fictionary story behind it as The Glory World as it is about President Garfield and his assassination and the trial of Guiteau. Thus I have put this poem in the back of the book. This poem is only a sample of the Poetry By Wayside which Wayside has written many other poems. Also in this book are some photographs (images) taken recently and placed inside the book of the ORIGINAL handwritten, old script from The Glory World And Guiteau by Wayside and The Machine by "Wayside". This way the readers can see the handwriting and the age of the paper where this book was transcribed from into this book and admire it. It is really a wonder these writings survived over 123 years after the death of the original writer and are still in readable form. This is also like a man's vision into the eternities and the world beyond. This book speaks of heaven and hell and the life everlasting. This is a work of fiction that was written originally in the late 1800's and was not ever published into book form to my knowledge. There is also a poem in the back of the book entitled, "The Machine", which is a story about the murder and assassination of President Garfield by Guiteau and talks about stalwarts and Stalwarts and talks about Half-Breeds and Feather-Heads all of which were at the time political groups.
