Synopsis
A war-torn continent wrought by death, poverty and violence.
A race of iron-fisted Immortals descended from angels.
And enslaved beasts who have grown restless from years of oppression.
Among an oppressed race of beast-like magic-folk, each with their own extraordinary power, is an electro-kinetic warrior slave named Azula. After failing to buy back her name and watching her sister-slave murdered at the hands of her half-demon Master, she decides to run away. She takes refuge with a band of insurgents known as the Rebellion, the last front in the battle against the Immortals. She knows that with them, she has a chance at survival--and happiness. But when she gets entangled in a conspiracy that threatens to topple the magical world, she begins to question their motives.
The only one she can trust is the leader's right hand man, who is caught in the middle between both the master race and the slaves as a double agent--and a half-breed.
Can they save their people--and each other?
Back of book description
By blood we are bound and by magic we remain...
Former warrior slave Azula just wants a harmonious life--one without war or loss. But she quickly realizes that maybe flocking to the Rebellion wasn't the best idea, especially when she finds out their sinister plans. She soon finds herself fighting the power-hungry Immortals, the enraged Rebels, cunning Mortals...and her own heart.
Because there is another battle.
One that involves a charming, slick, irritating half-Immortal, half-Gifted man whose eyes glimmer like stars and touch sets her ablaze. Because he doesn't only want her peace. He wants something more impossible to move on from than endless battles or whippings: long days and even longer nights--forever.
