About the Book

This is the story of a little girl and her cat midnight . Living out on a farm in Verdigre Ne. as a little girl she became very fond of Midnight as there were no other children close by to play with. (The first part of the story and Fran's fantisies of the little people living out under the plants and such are true as she used to tell me about her childhood there with her cat and mother and father.) But midnight was no ordinary cat as when it became dark out Midnight would disappear out into the barnyard and into the fields. The Little girls name was Fran and as all children do she had a great imagination and one night Midnight woke her and insisted that she get up and go with him out into the darkness of the night. At the time she didn't know it but midnight had little friends out there of fairies and elves and some were in trouble and he knew that he couldn't handle this all by himself so had to depend on Fran to help rescue them. Fran always had make believe friends to play with but as this story unfolded she became involved in one of her fantasies that would be remembered well into her adult years. Many times she told her husband of her childhood dreams and that is how this book came into being written. It is a children's book that I think many will enjoy, It took place in the town of Verdigre Nebraska where her parents lived and worked. Read on and enjoy.
About the Author: I was born in Massachusetts in 1931 and my parents moved to Michigan around 1934. I accomplished many things and began working at the age of 15 After that I had 4 years of Tool and Die apprenticeship, carpentry work building houses at which time I got my journeyman's card in carpentry. Around the year of 1957 due to unemployment in Michigan I had a job offer in Omaha Nebraska where I met my lovely wife in 1958 whom I married in 1959' I became the assistant manager of a large restaurant and Motel called the Town House in Omaha Nebraska. That is where I met this amazing woman who at the time was the Hawaiian Room Hostess there. It was sort of love at first sight as we both were overcoming some hardships that drew us together. We were married for almost 50 years before she passed away in 2006. We raised 5 great children and I believe we had a wonderful life that was a little different then most people which prompted me into writing a book called "More than One Life" which is published on Amazon and also Kindle. Before moving back to Michigan I had the privilege to do a little teaching of it at Coe College in Cedar Rapids Iowa Where we were married there in 1959 and decided to come back to Michigan. My interests are many as I am now retired and I love the outdoors and the arts. I do a little painting some clay modeling and model boat building and photography and writing of course. One of the first of the books I wrote was of my beautiful wife, titled "More than one life" As we had almost 50 years together. When we first got married we had the privilege of running a restaurant for the Milwaukee Railroad in Atkins Iowa, There we became friends with the game warden and raised abandoned baby Great Horned Owls till they were big enough to release which became my next book titled "The Great Horned Owls of Iowa" my wife started this with me till she became to ill. There my wife and I opened a Taxidermy Studio for the next 22 years and that would be my next book, "Taxidermy" My life of Hunting, Fishing and becoming a Taxidermist. From there I did a some Model boat building and also some clay modeling so I wrote a couple of small books on them and also a great Cookbook for a great lady that lives in Arkansas spending many hours donating time to rescuing unwanted animals. You will also enjoy this great Cookbook called Friends of Gail's Pets Second Chance, this is also on Amazon and the proceeds help unwanted rescued animals .
