About the Book

Chief Warrant Officer Wes Jefferson is back in the third book of the series, The Ghost Ranger.
When 16-year-old Nicholas Wesley Jefferson defends his little brother using the business end of his shotgun-he's sent to Lyman Ward Military Academy. But it's no punishment for young Wes, who thrives amid the martial atmosphere at the southern school located in Camp Hill, Alabama. Soon, the academy's top brass take notice of the promising young cadet and he is selected to be groomed under the watchful eye of senior military instructors. During his senior year, he is overseas training when he gets his first taste of battle and the legend and code name: The Ghost Ranger is born. Before long he rises from the ranks to take on a top-secret assignment.
For Chief Warrant Officer Jefferson, the charge is so under-the-radar even he's not aware of the true mission. But it could have the effect of saving the cash-strapped institution he loves, while advancing America's interests in a volatile part of the world. The problem? When bureaucrats in Washington get wind of the operation, Wes becomes the target of a major investigation involving political intrigue and high-stakes military drama.
At a time when public opinion of the armed forces was at an all-time low, the people needed a hero. They needed Ghost Ranger. Controlled Violence is the third book in a series following the exploits of Chief Wes Jefferson.

Chapter 1

CWO Nicholas "Wes" Jefferson was back at work at the National Security Agency by his 29th birthday just as NSA Director Jack Sawyer had predicted everything had calmed down. Wes however was staying close to the range. During the first week of March, he was called into Jack's Office and Jack closed the door and sat next to him and leaned in, and asked him if he had done any HALO jumps recently, not since last spring no sir, replied Wes, well you got a couple of weeks get up to speed, where to? North Africa. We have a green light. Wes was ordered first to Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he trained with the elite Delta Force practicing High Altitude Low Opening parachute jumps. Special Operation warriors are able to be dropped into unfriendly areas utilizing this quick and undetectable method. Modern technology had also increased the efficiency of our bombing capabilities with the use of laser guided missiles, basically a special operations solider will make his way to the intended target then when the attach vehicle or aircraft was in range, then the solider would either light up or paint the target with a laser allowing the bombs tracking equipment to pick up the signal and target the marked location. By March of 1986 Wes was flying toward the Coral Sea stationed in Gulf of Sidra off the coast of Libya. Wes was going in to paint a top secret target, one that had not been approved and even he didn't have the coordinates yet, but Operation El Dorado Canyon was now in full gear. What Wes didn't know, the CIA had other plans for the young warrior, plans that would take a drastic turn causing yet another major course of events to take place. The fourth book in the series, The Ghost Ranger will be released early 2010. For more information about the series or the author, please visit our website: www.theghostranger.com.
