About the Book

Wes, yeah Jack the CIA is pretty pissed at you, I figured they would be, but you know my old saying, Jack thought to himself, again with the old sayings, better pissed off than pissed on. Jack smiled, Tom thought it was funny and Wes just grinned. Wes asked Jack about Cara and he said who and winked oh nobody. Tom said Wes you were by chance in New York last week were you, gee Tom that just depends. Well you see I got this dead Shiite Cleric and to be truthful a real piece of crap, but he turns up dead from some horrible deadly poison. Wes said that's too bad. Tom said yeah O.K. anyway, I did a little research and it turns out the only group that likes to use this stuff is Mossad. Wes looked at Jack and said do we have Mossad operating in this country. Jack said were not suppose to. Wes said look Tom, maybe I was and maybe I wasn't but if your brother isn't going to tell you then there is no way I am. So let's not spend the whole week talking shop, its Christmas remember. Tom pulled a bottle of Crown Royal from his bag and poured everyone a drink and said Merry Christmas. Tom went to bed first then Jack and Wes talked for awhile while sipping coffee. Jack told Wes he took care of the funeral arrangements, Wes thanked him for that. Jack wanted the details and Wes went over everything. What do you think and Jack told him about the Iran Contra Weapons deal that was being blown wide open. Wes said, man I am glad we got rid of that program when we did then. Jack said the same thing. But anyhow, the Director and the Vice President are big buddies and they are trying to figure a way to divert this and then you came along. My sources inside the CIA tell me Cortega was going to corroborate everything they said about Castro helping Nicaragua with direct military aid from the Soviet Union and this would validate their program of supplying the Contras with weapons and money to fight the Sandinistas. Wes rubbed his temples and said I sure did like this job before politics got involved. Jack asked Wes how Carla was doing, he said fine, she pitched me the night before she left, how did that work out? A draw. Jack told Wes he had a source from Cuba that he was going to give the CIA to replace Cortega, which should calm things down, once he realizes his guys screwed up, he'll put an anonymous star on the wall at Langley for both of them and that will be that. Wes said, what's his beef with me personally, Wes he is just mad that you work for me and not him, that's it in a nut shell.
Wes was back at work by his 29th birthday and Jack had predicted everything that would happen. Wes however was staying close to the range. During the first week of March, Wes was called into Jack's Office and Jack closed the door and sat next to him and leaned in, have you done any HALO jumps recently, not since last spring no sir, well you got a couple of weeks get up to speed, where to? North Africa. We have a green light.
