Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2000 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Massenmedien allgemein, Note: 1,0, Universität Leipzig (Institut für Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Seminar: Einführung in die Kommunikationswissenschaften, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Um über Gewalt in den Medien zu sprechen, ist es vorab erforderlich den Gewaltbegriff zu definieren. Dabei gehen wir von zwei Fragen aus: 1. Welcher Typus von Gewalt wird in den Medien dargestellt? 2. Mit welchem Typus von Gewalt hat sich die Medienwirkungsforschung in ihren Untersuchungen befaßt? In erster Linie handelt es sich bei der in den Medien gezeigten um personale Gewalt. Unter dieser wird die beabsichtigte physische und / oder psychische Schädigung einer Person, von Lebewesen und Sachen durch eine andere Person verstanden. Außerdem muß zwischen realer und fiktiver Gewaltdarstellung unterschieden werden. Während bei der Darstellung realer Gewalt tatsächlich physisch und psychisch schädigende Verhaltensweisen präsentiert werden, ist dies bei der fiktiven Gewaltdarstellung nicht der Fall, Gewalt wird hierbei nur "vorgespielt", entsprechende Verhaltensweisen imitiert. Weiterhin gibt es sowohl künstliche wie auch natürliche Darstellungen von Gewalt. Unter der ersten wird die lebensechte Präsentation, zum Beispiel mit Schauspielern, unter der zweiten die artifizielle Präsentation, zum Beispiel im Zeichentrickfilm, verstanden. Die bisher durchgeführten Inhaltsanalysen und Studien zur Untersuchung der Auswirkungen von Mediengewalt haben sich zumeist mit dem Typus natürlicher, fiktiver Gewalt befaßt. Die Darstellung anderer Gewalt und deren Wirkung sind in der Forschung bislang demgegenüber vergleichsweise vernachlässigt worden. Gewaltdarstellungen findet man in jedem Massenmedium der heutigen Zeit, im Fernsehen, Film, Radio, in den Printmedien und auch im Internet.
