About the Author: Paul Caulfield was born in Washington, D.C. in 1974. Following graduation from Fairfield University in 1996, he was a Catholic missionary in Durán, Ecuador and later taught religion, grammar and creative writing in Washington, D.C. While attending The Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law, he was law clerk to the Office of the Independent Counsel, Robert W. Ray. Between 2001 and 2004, he was a Manhattan Assistant District Attorney investigating and prosecuting a variety of street and white collar crimes. His private practice work has been featured in The National Law Journal, New York Law Journal and Long Island Business News and, in his capacity as legal analyst for Inside Lacrosse Magazine, he was one of the earliest critics in print and on television of North Carolina District Attorney Michael Nifong's now-discredited prosecution of the nationally known "Duke lacrosse rape" case. Today, he is Chief Risk Officer at IDB Bank, an international private and commercial bank where he oversees enterprise risk, cyber security, financial crimes compliance and general consumer compliance. He lives in Northport, Long Island with his wife, Alyssa, and three children.
