About the Author: For almost forty years, Wayne Strickland has worked in sales, product development, and strategy. He has reached the top of his field by leading large organizations as they navigate partnerships with some of the biggest and most influential retailers in the world. At Hallmark Cards, Wayne has been a leader in customer-facing, strategy development, marketing, and product development roles. He has executive experience as the general manager/customer team leader for all mass channel customers in North America, including Walmart, Sam's, Target, supermarkets, and the drug store channel. Additionally, Wayne has been the vice president of marketing & strategy for Hallmark Gold Crown Stores, vice president of category management, and is currently the vice president of global distribution planning where he is responsible for the competitive intelligence capability for Hallmark Cards, Inc. globally. Throughout his career, Wayne has always had a vision of "what could be better." Wayne has developed and launched new capabilities and built new organizations in the areas of category management and customer strategy and planning. He has also led the development of two national brands that have generated in excess of $10B in revenue. Wayne's scope of responsibilities has been vast - he has managed $100 million budgets, has been responsible for annual revenues exceeding $600 million, has led day-to-day execution in over 20,000 rooftops, and has managed over 15,000 employees. Wayne Strickland graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BSBA and an MBA. He is an avid cyclist, guitar player and singer who hopes to go on tour with a band when he grows up. He holds a black belt in Tai Kwon Do and is a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the World Series Champions, Kansas City Royals. He lives in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife and is father to 4 kids and grandfather to 1 granddaughter and 2 grandsons. His first book, Leadership Philosophy, was published in January of 2016.
