Dazu gehört, Prozesse zu beschleunigen, Innovationszyklen zu verkürzen und die Fixkosten im Unternehmen möglichst klein zu halten, um jederzeit liquide zu sein und flexibel auf Anpassungsänderungen reagieren zu können. Die Menschen in diesem Unternehmen nehmen die beschriebenen Vorgänge als Druck und Belastung wahr - sowohl körperlich als auch psychisch. Da diese Belastung in immer mehr Unternehmen zum Alltag wird, und die Mitarbeiter dieser Unternehmen zu wenige Erholungsphasen wahrnehmen können, reichen die mittel- bis langfristigen Resultate von Leistungseinbußen über gehäuft auftretende, kurzfristige Krankheitsausfälle bis hin zur längerfristigen Abwesenheit wegen chronisch auftretender Erkrankungen. Da die Unternehmen aber vor allem auf spezialisierte Mitarbeiter permanent angewiesen sind, müssen sie stärker in Instrumente investieren, die Gesundheit ihrer Mitarbeiter fördern, um sich letztlich am Markt zu behaupten und konkurrenzfähig zu bleiben. Dabei ist Gesundheit als "Voraussetzung und auch Ergebnis der Wechselwirk-ungen zwischen Person, Verhalten und Umwelt" (WALTER/BADURA/HEHLMANN 2010: 32) zu verstehen. Als Kernthema dieser Hausarbeit "... geht es um ... die Erschließung salutogener Potenziale ..." (WALTER/BADURA/HEHLMANN 2010: 32), und nicht aber um einen pathogenetischen Ansatz, der sich mit Krankheits-ursachen auseinandersetzt.
