Bei der Herstellung arbeitsintensiver Produkte sehen wir uns längst einer übermächtigen Konkurrenz aus Niedriglohnländern gegenüber, der wir als Industrienation nur mit Innovation und überdurchschnittlichen Produkten begegnen können. Um die Existenz unserer Gesellschaft abzusichern, müssen nachwachsende Generationen auf diese neuen Anforderungen vorbereitet werden. Die durchgeführten Studien zum Bildungsstand von Kindern und Jugendlichen zeigen jedoch, dass Deutschland dem Wandel bildungspolitisch noch nicht gewachsen ist. Mit gerade einmal durchschnittlichen Leistungen wird man im globalen Wettbewerb nicht mehr bestehen können. Die Bundesrepublik muss sich mehr auf bildungspolitische Aspekte konzentrieren, um bestehende Chancen zu nutzen und nicht in der Mittelmäßigkeit zu versinken. Neue Anforderungen erfordern neue Strategien. Jedes Kind muss gefordert und gefördert werden. Lehrerinnen und Lehrer brauchen die Möglichkeit, Wissen nicht nur zu vermitteln, sondern ermitteln zu lassen. Praktisches Lernen in Projekten, Eigenverantwortung im Lernprozess und Interesse müssen durch den Lebensweltbezug den Schülerinnen und Schülern näher gebracht werden. So kann auch dem demographischen Wandel begegnet werden. Es darf nicht zugelassen werden, dass Kinder vereinsamen. Notwendig sind methodisch-didaktische Formen, die die neue gesellschaftliche und wirtschaftliche Situation berücksichtigen. Eine Schule, die den Anforderungen einer veränderten Kindheit und den aktuellen Bildungsproblemen gerecht werden soll, ist die Ganztagsschule. Mit umfangreichen pädagogischen Gestaltungsmerkmalen, ist sie durchaus bereit den beschriebenen Bedingungen zu begegnen. Diese Arbeit setzt an den derzeitigen Kindheitsbedingungen an und soll Möglichkeiten aufzeigen, Bildungsansprüche kindgerecht
